About Jill
- Jill is a third generation Montanan and grew up in the tiny town of Rexford near Eureka, Montana. Jill’s husband, Joe, grew up in Helena and has worked for the past 18 years at Ashgrove Cement Company in Montana City.
- Jill’s professional career has been devoted to public service. She worked for the State of Montana for 38 years, primarily with the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). She recently retired in June 2022. Jill worked in the public sector in Libby, Montana for 10 years, spent one year in Missoula, another seven in Kalispell, and the past 21 years in Helena. While in Helena, Jill was the Program Director for seven years of the Insure Montana Program at the State Auditor’s Office. The Insure Montana Program was a state-driven approach to provide health insurance subsidies and tax credits for Montana small businesses and their employees. Jill recently retired from the position of Bureau Chief for the DPHHS Community Services Bureau, where she managed several Medicaid programs for Montana’s elderly and persons with physical disabilities. These programs provide in-home services that promote independence and allow eligible individuals to remain in their homes and avoid institutionalization.
- Gardening, reading, hanging out with her four dogs and spending time with friends around the firepit top Jill’s list of things to do. She also enjoys helping Joe brew beer—with some good results and some ‘pour down the drain’ results—but always a fun time!
- Jill has two grown sons, who are both raising their own sons right here in Montana (one is a lawyer and the other an electrician). She dotes on her grandchildren and uses any excuse to visit them. Both of Jill’s sons served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. One served overseas as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the other as part of the initial invasion in Iraq.
- Despite her recent retirement, Jill plans to continue to devote her energy and attention to public service by vying to represent her community as the House District 79 Representative in the Montana Legislature.
